An Inside Look at the Boutique Ace Hotel in Palm Springs

Ace Hotel Palm Springs

While the world of luxury hotels is certainly oversaturated at times, you can find hotel gems like the Ace Hotel to stay in if you want to changes things up a little bit. The Ace Hotel is a small chain of boutique hotels that wanted to offer a different experience from the atmosphere delivered from more traditional hotels. They wanted to create hotels that were retro and artistic; they wanted to create a hotel for artists and creatives that celebrate that lifestyle. Well they have certainly succeeded, and one of their standout locations would be the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.

Picture a hotel that was owned by a few hippies and combine that with all the stylistic elements from the late 1960’s that many people love, and you’ve essentially got the Ace Hotel Palm Springs. Located in the desert and close by to Joshua Tree and Salvation Mountain, this Ace Hotel is something out of a charming indie film and it certainly fits in with the “vibe” of the surrounding area. This isn’t a St. Regis resort, however that’s not always a bad thing. This is a boutique hotel that’s all about the arts and for many, including myself, it is very appealing.

There are 176 rooms in total here, and as you can see, they look like rooms right out of the late 1960’s. I mean that’s what they are going for here, and they do a good job at it. Sure it’s not for everyone, but this is an artsy boutique hotel. The rooms range in a variety of sizes from standard rooms with king-sized beds to large suites with outdoor patios and fireplaces.

The hotel is filled with many outdoor patios, fireplaces, and hammocks making it the perfect place to relax. It also has all the modern amenities you’d expect from a hotel like a spa, a fitness center, two pools, a vintage photo booth, and a vintage shopping center where you can buy records. Nearly every night there is some band playing or an arts-and-crafts workshop going on so you’ll never be bored here. At the Ace Hotel, it’s all about the arts and creating a creative atmosphere.

Take a look into the restaurant here and it feels like a classic diner from the 60’s. I know I keep going on about the 1960’s, but that’s really the theme of this entire hotel. They want you to come and relax and to enjoy the carefree and artistic environment that many hotels miss out on. Are their nicer hotels out there? Sure. But that’s not to say that this hotel isn’t nice at all. In fact, it’s extremely charming and almost a work of art in itself. Coming here to this Ace Hotel is like taking a brief trip in a time machine, but luckily enough there’s still WiFi.
