We’ve seen some pretty amazing hotels and buildings constructed over the years in places like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but now Saudi Arabia is planning to steal the show from those cities as they are on track to construct the largest hotel in the entire world. The hotel will be centrally located in Mecca (Makkah) and will just be a few miles south of the Holy Haram.
The hotel will be called the Abraj Kudai and it is expected to open up its doors sometime in 2017. Given the fact that it will be the largest hotel in the world when it’s completed, it’s going to take a bit of time for construction to finish. The Dar Al-Handasah group is taking charge of this monumental project, and from what we can infer based off of the designs and plans, this hotel is going to be absolutely absurd.
The Abraj Kudai hotel will be comprised of 12 towers in total that are located on top of a ten-story base. In total the hotel will be 45 stories tall. At the heart of the structure is the largest tower that has a dome on top and it is certainly very Saudi Arabian in appearance. In total the hotel will offer 10,000 rooms, 70 different restaurants, a few spas, a shopping mall, a few food courts, four helipads, a conference/business center, a ballroom, and much more. Additionally five floors of the hotel will always be reserved for members of the Saudi royal family.
The hotel certainly seems as though it will be extremely impressive when it is finally completed. The Saudi Ministry of Finance has already put the funds together in order to construct this mega-structure, and it is estimated to cost some $3.6 billion dollars. Obviously the hotel will be very luxurious and it seems that it will become an icon for the city, given how large and impressive it will be. We look forward to seeing the Abraj Kudai being completed in 2017 and we can’t wait to see what it will look like from the inside.
