10. The Winterlake Lodge – Skewenta, Alaska
Located some 200 miles north of Anchorage, is the Winterlake Lodge. After flying into Alaska, you will then need to take a small bush plane to take you to this hotel. It is located completely in the Alaskan wilderness and there are no other establishments for miles. The hotel offers guests a luxury experience, however you come here for the nature. With nearby glaciers, forests, and mountains this is a great way to experience the heart of Alaska.

9. Qualia – Hamilton Island, Australia
Hamilton Island is a small and remote island that is located off the coast of Australia, surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef. On it is Qualia, which is an exclusive, isolated, and luxurious island hotel/resort. Qualia is comprised of a network of 60 beach houses, villas, and pavilions that are spread through the island. The hotel is all about privacy and luxury, and they offer all the amenities one would expect from a premium spa to the luxurious dining options.

8. The Oberoi Vanyavilas – Sawai Madhopur, India
Located in a remote area of northern India, the Oberoi Vanyavilas is a premium and luxurious hotel that has much to offer. The hotel is comprised of the main buildings that house their spa and restaurant, and a series of “luxury tents”. I know what you’re thinking, “tents aren’t luxurious”. But these aren’t really tents, they are more like small palaces outfitted with luxury accommodations that just happen to have a roof made from fabric. While the hotel is attractive on its own, people come here to see tigers in the wild.

7. Petit St. Vincent – Petit St. Vincent, St. Vincent and The Grenadines
Petit St. Vincent is both a private island and luxury hotel located in the Caribbean, that is far removed from the rest of the world. The hotel is comprised of 22 private villas that are dotted across the island, all of which are extremely premium. They’re running a special where rates in August are “only” $15,000 per night, to give you some perspective on just how nice this place is. If you want a remote island getaway in the Caribbean, this is a pretty good choice.

6. Bushmans Kloof – Clanwilliam, South Africa
Situated in the wilderness of South Africa is Bushmans Kloof, a small luxury hotel that consists of just 16 guest rooms and a few lodges. The hotel has plenty of luxury accommodations that are attractive, but like some of the other hotels on our list, you really come here for the nature. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the local area where you will see a host of exotic wildlife.

5. North Island – North Island, The Republic of Seychelles
The Republic of Seychelles is an island nation located some 1,400 miles off the eastern coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean that is comprised of 115 islands. North Island is one of them, and it is an extremely isolated private island and resort. The island itself is covered in a lush jungle that is filled with exotic wildlife. You get the quintessential island getaway experience here, however it is just so remote and out there that we had to put it on our list.

4. Posada de Mike Rapu – Easter Island, Chile
Easter Island is essentially the definition of the word “remote”. It is located some 2,182 miles from Chile and the nearest landmass where people live is 1,289 miles away. Not many people live on the island, however there is a really nice luxury hotel known as Posada de Mike Rapu. It’s definitely the nicest hotel on the island as it offer five-star amenities and accommodations.

3. Qasr al Sarab Desert Resort – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Surrounded by the deserts of Abu Dhabi, the Qasr al Sarab is truly a luxury oasis. It’s a large complex of buildings that are styled like traditional desert dwellings, yet it offers all of the amazing luxury amenities since it is a five-star resort. I mean, it’s in the Emirates so you know it has to be pretty great due to the amount of wealth here. There are a range of villas and dwellings that make up the resort, which makes it feel more like a small and remote desert town. It’s really something out of a film that you have to experience for yourself.

2. Hotel Arctic – Ilulissat, Greenland
Hotel Arctic is the northernmost 4-star hotel in the entire world. So yeah, it is pretty remote. The hotel is comprised of a few main buildings that house the two restaurants, one bar and 76 guest rooms, and then there are nine suites that are located in private “igloos” made from aluminum. I know they look strange, but they are some of the nicest accommodations that you can find in the area. Explore the local area to experience a truly unique landscape, but watch out for the polar bears.

1. Dunes Lodge – Windhoek, Republic of Namibia
The Dunes Lodge is a small hotel comprised of a few buildings and private villas that are located on top of a sand dune out in the deserts of Namibia. There are only nine suites in total that are made from wood and canvas, yet they are completely furnished with many luxury amenities. The main building houses a pool, two lounges, a library, two dining rooms, and a wine cellar. If you want to experience the wilds of Africa, this is a pretty great place to call your home base for the time being.
