1800 Tequila Launches a $2,000 Premium Tequila

1800 Tequila Colección

Tequila is arguably the most notorious form of hard liquor, and like many other types of alcohol, you can spend a lot of money for a bottle. Sure there are plenty of great Tequila’s at your local liquor store, but what if you want something a little more premium and luxurious? Well that’s were 1800 Tequila comes in, as they have launched a brand new blend of Tequila and it’s priced at $2,000 dollars per bottle.

They call it the “1800 Colección” and it is a premium, extra añejo tequila from the brand. This is not the type of liquor that you take shots with, it’s one that you sip on and enjoy over a long period of time. 1800 Tequila is looking to compete with other liquor brands that have luxury offerings, and this seems like a pretty good answer to the growing demand for expensive alcohol.

The tequila is aged for three years in semi-charred French Oak barrels before it is mixed together to yield the final product. In total, only 40 bottles have been produced so it is also extremely limited. Each bottle also comes with a unique, hand-crafted decanter made from glass and pewter that was created by artist Gary Baseman. The piece is called “Sirena Del Deseo”, and it is meant to tell the story of a Mexican soldier who fell in-love with a mermaid, and then tragically died after swimming to the depths of the ocean to find her.

Still as nice as the bottle is, it’s still all about the tequila here. So is this too expensive for tequila? I’m not sure. I would probably have to taste it to find out, but I probably never will given that price tag and how only 40 bottles exist. But for the select few that will in fact purchase a bottle, I’m sure the tequila is nothing short of pure bliss.
