Eames Executive Chair

4. The Eames Executive Chair – $3,319 and up

Anyone that is remotely familiar with high-end, stylish furniture will point towards Eames as an industry leader. Their Executive Chair was originally created for all the offices in the Time-Life building in New York back in 1959. Given how significant that fact is, the chairs design has lived on. It comes in a range of different colors and materials, but you will be looking at upwards of $3,319 for one.

Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman

3. The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman – $4,859

We’ve got another chair from Eames on our list, as they are just such an important furniture brand. The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is the quintessential, high-end office or lounge chair. First created in the 1950’s, many will point to this chair combination as an industry staple. In fact, it’s so influential, a few examples are on display at the New York Museum of Modern Art. It’s stylish and design-focused, yet still very comfortable. Popular with psychiatrists and people that have dens, you can expect to drop around $4,859 for the entire unit.

Vitra Skape Highback Chair

2. The Skape Highback Chair – $6,825

Created by Italian architect/furniture designer Antonio Citterio and produced by the Swiss furniture company Vitra, the Skape Highback Chair is another absurdly expensive office chair at $6,825 dollars. At that price, you begin to wonder what makes this chair any different from everything else on the market as it is constructed from aluminum, leather, plastic, and foam…which are the materials used in pretty much any office chair. I supposed that you are paying most for the name and the stylish design, but I’m no expert of $6,825 dollar chairs.

Wegner Swivel Chair

1. The Wegner Swivel Chair – $12,800

One of the most absurdly expensive office chairs on the market today is the Wegner Swivel Chair. A respected name in the business, Wegner makes a range of high-quality furnishings. This chair was constructed based on ideas from Dr. Egill Snorrason who wanted chairs to be more ergonomic and “proper” for sitting in. The chair was designed to balance both functionality and style, but at $12,800 dollars is it really worth it?
