A Look At Some Standout Pieces From The Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week is a trade show held in Milan, Italy twice a year.  The Fall/Winter show was on January 17 – 24, 2015.  Milan is part of the “Big Four” Fashion Weeks the others being Paris, London and New York.  The entire city is transformed during this week by simply creating various venues for the shows selecting the most elegant and influential palaces to become the stage for design. Many premier designers came out to display their new fall and winter collection. Here is a quick look at three of the top designers that appeared and showcased their new lines in Milan this winter:

Ermenegildo Zegna

One element of the show is Zegna’s “Broken Suit”.  According to his style statement, “the height of chic is to take a jacket from one suit and match it with the trousers from another, in perfectly matching shades.” This concept is also highlighted in their current advertising campaign.

John Varvatos

A modern version of trench and leather coats were on view with the addition of criss cross belts. Many models sported luxurious beaver fur hats and stove pipe hats created out of velvet. 19th century era pinstripe pants were coupled with fitted vest. The addition of silky neck scarves completed the look.

Diesel Black Gold

Black Gold

This edgy line from Diesel offers edgy, rock chic fashion to a sophisticated clientele. The tone of the show was Punk rock chic mixed with a bit of a collegiate feel; a very interesting combination. There were many studs, patches and safety pins adoring the clothing line. Grungy blazers over slim fitted shirts completed the look, and we can certainly see this line being popular among many younger individuals.
