When Jaguar initially released their beloved F-Type back in 2013, it quickly became one of the most successful cars for the brand. It’s good looking, somewhat affordable, luxurious, and quite powerful; arguably the complete package. Well Jaguar has brought us a few different versions of the F-Type since 2013, the new 2017 F-Type SVR is officially the fastest production car Jaguar has ever produced.
Jaguar sells a few models of the F-Type, and now the SVR is arguably the most premium one. With the help of the Jaguar Land Rover “Special Vehicle Operations”, the company was able to create the fastest Jaguar ever. The new SVR brings some slight aesthetic changes and a major performance overhaul. While the overall look is pretty much the same, they’ve changed the aerodynamics of the vehicle ever so slightly. Jaguar has also added a new exhaust kit, new carbon ceramic disc brakes, an upgraded suspension, and even a carbon fiber roof, among other small changes.
However the biggest upgrade (as you probably have guessed by now) is the engine. Jaguar has gifted the F-Type SVR with a new 5.0-liter V8 with a twin vortex supercharger. That engine is capable of delivering some 575-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque in total. You can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and the car will top out at exactly 200 mph. Given those two facts, that means that the F-Type SVR is the fastest production car they’ve ever made.
The F-Type SVR starts at $125,950 dollars which is a big price “bump” compared to the base model’s $61,400 price tag. Regardless the SVR does offer incredible levels of performance, and that price is quite appropriate given what this car can do. If you want the fastest and most extreme Jaguar to date, the F-Type SVR is for you. We’ve been pleased to see what Jaguar has done so far with the F-Type and can only wait for more to come. Perhaps they’ll make it even faster?
