Lotus is Back with a Vengeance

Lotus Evora 400

I remember quite vividly the first time I saw a Lotus Elise on the roads. I was a child and had no prior knowledge of the brand, but I was definitely wowed by the car. I did not know that the Elise was one of the most affordable, high-performing vehicles around as I expected it to cost a lot of money. Still as I grew up, I familiarized myself more with Lotus and the cool cars that have released over the years. This small British firm has recently been struggling and almost went bankrupt, but they are back with a vengeance with their all-new vehicle: the Evora 400.

The brand-new Evora 400 will be the newest vehicle from Lotus, and it features many upgrades and improvements over its predecessors. The company plans to show off their latest supercar at the Geneva Motor Show which starts on March 3rd, and it is shaping up to be an impressive vehicle.

Lotus has re-imagined the front end and rear bumper and the car is as aggressive and mean as ever. Other improvements in terms of appearance include a lightweight composite air diffuser and larger cooling apertures. The vehicle is also lighter than older versions and features more power, 16% more over the last model to be exact. Lotus is still using a Toyota 3.5 liter V6 to power the vehicle but the improved supercharger and other upgrades give it 55 more horsepower for a total of 400 all together. Lotus tells us that we should expect a 0-60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

On the inside, Lotus has changed many things and has made the car much lighter. We see newly-designed racing seats. lighter door panels, a premium feeling interior cabin, and more. Prospective buyers will also have more choices for the materials used in the vehicle such as Scottish leather or Alcantara.

While more information will come out at the auto show, this new Evora 400 seems like an impressive vehicle. We aren’t sure how much it will cost just yet, but it will be available in Europe sometime in August and then launch shortly after here in North America. Lotus hopes that this new car will increase their sales, and I cannot see anything that is not to like about this vehicle.
