Did You Know That Maserati Is Planning To Release An SUV?

Maserati Levante

Maserati has consistently showed us that despite not being the most popular brand in its division, they still make pretty amazing vehicles. Maserati is well known for their luxury sedan and saloon cars that offer nice levels of comfort and considerable levels of performance. The company is owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (who also own Ferrari and a bunch of other stuff) and they saw nearly $2 billion dollars in revenue last year. The company has been doing well and they are looking to expand into the world of SUV’s.

The Maserati Levante is the upcoming SUV-crossover vehicle from the Italian company and it is meant to directly compete with Porsche’s Cayenne and the BMW X6. The vehicle will be the first SUV-crossover styled vehicle that the company has ever produced and many people are anticipating its release.

The vehicle was first announced when Maserati unveiled the Kubang concept car back in 2011, on which the Levante would be built upon. After those years the company is finishing up testing the vehicle, and according to them should be “available come late 2015”. This is good news for those who were eagerly left waiting. Recently one has been spotted out in the open as well.

The Maserati Levante will initially have a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that will produce 410 horsepower. Maserati also plans to release a 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 twin with 530 horsepower later. Maserati will bring a variety of other new features to this vehicle like their Maserati Touch Control system. The vehicle will also feature an advanced four-wheel drive system. Like other vehicles in its class, this SUV will have a variety of different driving modes depending if you are on the road, or in rain, or for some reason you want to take your $70,000 – $90,000 dollar SUV up a mountain.

Maserati is hoping to sell a lot of these vehicles when it is release and the hope that it will expand their brand to many new customers as well. The car will be available globally, however certain markets will see the car later in 2016 as the right-hand drive version is confirmed to come out later. Either way excitement mounts for the Maserati Levante.
