eBay LaFerrari Might be the Biggest $3.8 Million Scam Ever

LaFerrari eBay

Ever since eBay was launched, it has been one of the best online auction sites in the entire world. You can find some pretty incredible deals on the site, and then some pretty strange listings as well. Back in the early days of the site, all sorts of “questionable” items where put up for sale. Back in the 1990’s, some people even attempted to sell their organs. While eBay has now updated their rules and has eliminated most of the scams or questionable items, some strange items still pop up. Well it has recently come to our attention that there is now currently a LaFerrari being listed for sale on eBay. Buying a car on eBay is usually an okay thing to do, but buying a limited edition, high-end Ferrari is a whole other ordeal. The listing seems promising, however it may be too good to be true.

The LaFerrari is Ferrari’s first attempt to get into the world of hybrid-hypercars. Ferrari has only produced vehicles with combustion engines, but this new LaFerrari has an electric engine as well. The vehicle features both a 6.3-liter V12 and an electric motor. With all the engines working together, the LaFerrari has an impressive 950 bhp to offer drivers. Combine that with the vehicles carbon fiber body, it’s active aerodynamics, and all the other features seen on high-end hypercars, and this car is an absolute beast. It can achieve speeds of around 217 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. It has the highest power output of any Ferrari, ever. Ferrari only made just 499 examples of this vehicle, and at the time of their sale, they cost well over $1.4 million dollars and have all since been sold. So you’re only option now is to potentially buy one used. A few months back, Napels Motorsports listed one of these cars on eBay. The asking price? $5 million dollars. But now there’s another LaFerrari that is for sale on eBay, and it could be a scam for a variety of reasons.

LaFerrari

The eBay listing in question in offering a used LaFerrari for “only” $3.8 million dollars, a significant price reduction compared to the $5 million dollar one that was sold by Naples Motorsports. This LaFerrari also only has just 300 miles on it, so it’s basically in like-new condition. People have already been skeptical about the “low” price tag, but the listing gets even more worrisome. The seller has only put up just three pictures of the vehicle and the description of the car is taken word-for-word from Wikipedia. It certainly seems very strange. But the most important detail that raises concern is the model number of the car.

LaFerrari eBay 2

According to the picture provided by the eBay seller, this LaFerrari is the first one ever made. So right away this already extremely rare car is even rarer. This is definitely grounds to raise concern, given that this LaFerrari is being listed not only at a significantly lower price compared to other used ones sold in the past, but the fact that it could potentially be the first one ever made. That fact alone, if this listing is actually legitimate, would mean that this LaFerrari should be more valuable than the $5 million dollar one that was also listed on eBay. But it isn’t. From there, it just seems to get even worse. Not only is the description from Wikipedia, the price is too low, or the fact that they only provide just three pictures, but the listed vehicle identification number on the eBay post is that of a Toyota Prius. I smell a scam.

So all things about this eBay listing seem to indicate that it is in fact a scam. Sure, there’s still the chance that it isn’t, but would you risk $3.8 million dollars to find out? We certainly wouldn’t. However for the time being, the listing is still live and is generating a considerable amount of buzz. So what do you guys think? Is it legit, or a scam? Here’s the link to the eBay listing so you can check it out for yourself.
