It feels like it has been such a long time now when we first learned that Bentley was going to produce a high-end, luxury SUV. Rumors have been flying around this car for some time now, and now we can finally take a look at this incredible vehicle as Bentley just recently showed it off at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. It’s called the Bentayga and according to Bentley, it’s “the most powerful, most luxurious, most exclusive and fastest SUV in the world”. Those are some big claims, so let’s take a look and see what this vehicle is all about.
The Bentayga is all about delivering an exceptional motor experience that is distinctly Bentley, in a much larger package than their other models. There’s been an increasing global demand for luxury SUVs recently, and the Bentayga is easily the best one by far. Starting with the obvious, the Bentayga is powered by a new 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine that delivers 600 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. It has an 8-speed transmission, adaptive cruise control, all-wheel drive, different driving modes, and a range of other premium technical features that you’d expect a Bentley to have. The SUV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in around 4 seconds flat, which is incredible for such a massive car. It can also hit speeds of 187 mph, which as Bentley said, makes it the fastest SUV in the world.
But the Bentayga is much more than just a powerhouse, it’s a Bentley after all. The interior cabin is like a work of art and stacked with all the luxury features that you could ever imagine. We find premium leather, real wood, and slick metal that adorn the inside. These cars are constructed by hand, so you can expect the best here. The vehicle has an multimedia interface with an 8-inch touchscreen panel, built-in 4G, two removable 10.2-inch tablets that serve as rear seat entertainment consoles, an 18-speaker surround sound system, and much more. Each Bentley is like a bespoke car when it rolls of the production line, as the options are pretty endless. But more importantly, it’s the way that Bentley executes these things that counts the most. The vehicle is just extremely refined from the inside to the outside. Every detail has been accounted for, ever stitching in the leather is purposefully arraigned, and not a single feature has been overlooked. The Bentayga is truly the ultimate SUV.
The Bentayga will be available in four and five-seat configurations and will come in a host of different colors, including 15 different themes for the interior. Since it’s an SUV, it should go without saying that this car has ample room for both passengers and storage. It’s the Bentley that you could theoretically take on a camping trip, although I suppose not many future Bentayga owners would actually do that, but the point still stands. The Bentayga is set to launch sometime in 2016 and we’re still waiting to hear on an exact price. Estimates have it costing somewhere between $225,000 to $250,000 dollars, which seems accurate as it is a Bentley. We look forward to seeing these vehicles on the road as the Bentayga is easily one of the most impressive SUVs ever created.
