The Shelby Cobra is one of the most iconic cars to ever be released into the market. This year marks the 50th anniversary of two American car’s in the 427 Cobra Roadster as well as the Cobra Daytona Coupe. Both cars have had a huge impact on the automobile industry and everyone is familiar with the Shelby brand. Recently, luxury watch maker Baume & Mercier have decided to make two high end commemorative watches in honor of the two birthdays and they are pretty amazing.
The company hosted an event out in Las Vegas to celebrate in grand fashion. Guests were given a tour of the Shelby manufacturing facility and the choice to ride in an 800 horsepower Cobra Roadster. The Shelby models have been around for so long and the event was focused on walking people through the timeline and history of the company throughout the years.
Baume & Mercier wanted to make a watch that was nothing less than amazing. The watch needed to be regal and celebrate 50 years of success while also being uniquely designed with the feeling that owners would still be able to wear this everyday. The watch definitely achieves this and is based off of their Capeland design. It comes in blue and gold or blue and silver, which both look amazing together; but what really sets this watch apart from everything else is the small details when taking a closer look. The hour and minute hand are built to look like the Cobra’s steering wheel spokes while the seconds hand features a Shelby Cobra head on the end that is always in the center of the watch.
The two Baume & Mercier Cobra watches are planned for a June release this year. The stainless steel silver case will be sold for $4,450 while the fancier, 18 karat gold model will be available for $19,950. Each watch features a sapphire crystal case and both are also engraved with Mr. Shelby’s signature. The Shelby Cobra is a well known car with a rich history; it’s impressive how far the company has come over the years and this is a must have collector’s item for the true fans.
