A Rare 1957 Ferrari 335 Fetches $34.9 Million At Auction

A rare and prized Ferrari 355 Sport Scaglietti from 1957 has recently been sold at auction for the incredible price of $34.9 million dollars. The car was sold at an Artcurial event that was held in Paris, and it was easily the most desirable lot of that auction. However despite that insane price, it is still not the most expensive Ferrari that has ever been sold.

Ferraris generally make up the most expensive cars ever sold at auction, and this one in particular will join their ranks. The car, with the chassis number 0674, is not only a rare racing Ferrari from the 1950’s, it is also one that was driven by some of the greats. This particular Ferrari was in the Mille Miglia, the 24 Hours of Le Mans (it had the fastest recorded lap in 1957), the 12 Hours of Sebring, and many other races as it was driven by racing legends like Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorne, Peter Collins, and Maurice Trintigant, among others.

Since this car is not only a rare and historic Ferrari, but one with a rich racing history, it’s no surprise that is sold for that incredible price of $34.9 million dollars. Even still, while it is one of the most expensive cars ever sold at auction, the most expensive is a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that sold in 2014 for $38.1 million. Regardless its incredible to see just how valuable historic Ferraris are and how much people are willing to pay for them.
