The $150,000 Third Generation Acura NSX is a Show Stopper

The 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit just recently ended, and we saw many great cars unveiled and a few cool features on upcoming car models to be released. Acura, of all brands, also made one of the largest announcements that after many years, they were in fact bringing the popular NSX supercar back to life.

The Acura NSX or the Honda NSX (Acura is the luxury brand within Honda), was a supercar that the company first introduced back in 1990, and it was the first all-aluminum supercar in the world. They have made many different versions of the vehicle over the years, but the last few years we saw a gap in these vehicles as they did not produce any. Well luckily that has changed, as the company looks on to tackle other supercar companies and brands with their new NSX, which is also the third version of the car.

The 2016 NSX will by a hybrid, mid-engine supercar that, as Acura claims, will “focus on being a human-centered supercar”. The display vehicle sported an aggressive design painted all red. The vehicle is powered by a large DOHC twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a dual-clutch transmission. Additionally the car will have three electric motors: two will help facilitate the automated shift of the gears, while one will help generate torque and power to the front wheels. The combination of these engines should result in large amounts of power, and a quick acceleration.

The vehicle will be made from high-strength steel and carbon fiber to keep it strong and lightweight. Acura is currently taking orders for the vehicle and it starts at $150,000 dollars. They are currently still producing the vehicle and it is expected to be delivered sometime at the end of this year. The car has gone through extensive levels of testing on roads throughout the world, and is expected to launch without any difficulties.
