Five of the Highest Paying Internships

interns

Internships are not typically known to pay well, or even at all. Many companies employ interns in need of college credits and/or experience shortly before graduation. And while some companies hire internships on a strictly no-income policy, there are some companies that do pay interns. The job is for experience and to foster an intricate knowledge of a particular industry, and some do pay. These are the internships that pay the most.

Chevron — $5400/Month

Chevron is one of the biggest oil and gas companies in the world, and it pays well to its interns. These are not, however, interns who come into pump gas and ring up snacks and cigarettes. These are interns here to learn the inner workings of the company and to take more executive positions in the corporation.

ExxonMobil — $6000/month

They experienced one of the biggest and most profitable mergers and acquisitions several years ago, and that’s allowed ExxonMobil to have the flexibility to hire interns and pay them well. The average monthly income of an ExxonMobil intern is $6000 per month, which is $72,000 per year. That’s more than most people make in a year and a half.

Twitter — $6800/month

The social media giant pays its interns handsomely. To obtain an internship at Twitter is to earn a handsome salary, higher than the national average yearly income in the rest of the country. This San Francisco-based company hires several interns each year.

VMWare — $6966/month

VMWare is yet another Palo Alto-based software company. This one specializes in cloud commuting and paying interns very well. The yearly salary of an intern at this company is reportedly $83,592 per year. There is an average of 50 positions open in the internship category at VMWare at any given time.

Palantir — $7012/month

This software company is based in Palo Alto, CA and it pays its interns an average of $42 per hour. That’s more than most average Americans with a degree make in their actual career field. It balances out to around $7000 per month. The company’s biggest clients include the FBI and the CIA, and it has 10 internships available.
