It’s the first S-Class convertible to come out of Mercedes in 44 years. Mercedez-Benz and Mercedes-AMG have finally drop the tops on their newest convertibles: the S550 and the S63 Cabriolets. According to their press releases, “The new S-class cabriolet symbolizes our passion for individual and timelessly exclusive mobility, which we share with our customers.” The fourth variant of the current S-Class, its spec is almost unchanged from the coupe, with the AWD S550’s V8 offering 449 hp V8 and 516 lb-ft of torque.
So what else are we talking about here? Standard AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension. The car has a 9-speed automatic. As for the AMG-S63 4MATIC, that comes with a 5.5 liter V8, and AWD system, 577hp as well as a 7-speed AMG Speedshift transmission.
The top can be lowered or raised in less than 20 seconds and at speeds of up to 37 mph. Aerodynamics remain nearly unchanged, with the cabriolet returning a CoD of 0.9.
The company states that the S63 will accelerate from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The cabriolets will cost you about $15,000 more than their coupe counterparts, with the S550 starting at $122,475 and the S63 at $164,075. Check out the pics below!
