When you think about it, it is a bit strange that in 2015, there are still kings, queens, princes, and princesses. Many countries, primarily European nations, still have a royal family who can trace their roots back to the middle ages and beyond. Now many people expect royal family members and monarchs to be sophisticated and posh leaders, however that is not always the case. After all they are only human, so some of them can be a bit rebellious and sometimes they are even involved with scandals. We are going to take a look at a list of ten royals who are considered to be somewhat of rebels.
10. Prince Frederik – Crown Prince of Denmark
Prince Frederik certainly takes advantage of his royalty and likes to live life like a bit of a playboy. Before he got married and raised a family, he was certainly known as a party enthusiast. He was often seen at various parties with a long list of attractive women that ranged from underwear models to prominent pop-stars. He even had a party on his boat with many topless women.
9. Kate Middleton – Duchess of Cambridge
Kate Middleton is one of the better-known royals on our list and she likes to be rebellious every now and then. While she isn’t spotted going crazy, she was photographed on a yacht back in 2012 without wearing any clothing. This then lead to a scandal as the pictures became public, however it did not seem like Kate cared to much. She is probably more aware of the creepy paparazzi now.
8. Sarah Ferguson – Duchess of York
Sarah Ferguson is another somewhat rebellious royal, that seems to not care what people think about her. She had a very public separation from Prince Andrew a while back, and then went on a vacation with a new boyfriend even though she was still married. She was then photographed naked on the beach with her new boyfriend which lead to a scandal. Apparently the Queen did not like this one bit, and Sarah has supposedly been banned from the royal household. She even tried to make some cash with a new organization by giving them private details about Prince Andrew.
7. Princess Caroline of Monaco
Princess Caroline is another rebellious person who doesn’t care too much about her royal title. She is known to have had a few public relationships and affairs over he lifetime. At 21 she married an older Frenchman who gained a reputation for partying. She divorced him and then had a few other public relationships. She even had an affair with the then married Prince Ernst of Hanover. She became pregnant with his child which lead to Prince Ernst divorcing his old wife and marrying Princess Caroline, however they are apparently now separated.
6. Prince Harry of Wales
Prince Harry, as the younger brother of Prince William, knows that he probably will never be king so he has lead a more interesting lifestyle. He admitted to being a user of cannabis when he was growing up, he dressed up as a Nazi officer for Halloween in 2005, he’s been in a few bar fights, he has had leaked nude photos surface, and there is even apparently a video of him in calling someone a racial slur in an argument.
5. Prince Carl Philip of Varmland
While Prince Carl Philip seems fairly tame, he has been known to be somewhat of a playboy and like to entertain the company of models and other beautiful women. He went on to marry Sofia Hellqvist who was a lingerie and nude model, which his family didn’t like very much. While she tries to maintain a royal image, it probably didn’t help the two of them when she went on a reality show about people stuck in a hotel that focused on drama and scandals.
4. Prince Albert II of Monaco
Even though Prince Albert is an older gentleman, he has had his fair shares of being rebellious and has had multiple scandals over the years. For awhile Prince Albert was accused of having an illegitimate child, which he always denied. But eventually he did own up to having an illegitimate child out of wedlock. It then got even more scandalous when we found out that he also has a second illegitimate child with another woman.
3. Princess Eugenie of York
Princess Eugenie of York probably gained her rebellious attitude from her mother, Sarah Ferguson, who is also on our list. She has often been seeing partying quite a bit, running away from her royal guards, and taking secret and mysterious trips overseas, often not informing anyone of her location.
2. Princess Stephanie of Monaco
Princess Stephanie of Monaco has seen a few scandals in her life and some even call her the “trailer park princess”. She gained that name when she ran away with a circus elephant trainer and decided to ditch her mansion and live with him in a mobile home to travel with the circus. She also has three children with three different men, two of whom where her former bodyguards. On her youngest daughters Camille’s birth certificate, there is actually no listed father and she won’t even name who he is.
1. Princess Margaret – Countess of Snowdon
In her youth, Princess Margaret was quite the rebel and liked to live somewhat of a hedonistic lifestyle. She was often seen in public partying, smoking, and drinking. Additionally she has been known to take up relationships with married men and even had an affair with her father’s married equerry.
