Luxury designer Tom Ford is a man of many talents. Aside from being one of the world’s top fashion designers, he also has a big passion for movies. Back in 2009, Ford released his debut feature film, A Single Man, which starred Colin Firth, Julianne More and Nicholas Hoult. The movie was a huge success earning multiple Oscar nominations, mainly Colin Firth for the Actor in a Lead Role category. Now, Tom Ford has announced that he is getting ready to shoot his second film.
Tom Ford made the announcement out of nowhere about a week or two ago in Los Angeles that he is ready to make another film and get behind the camera yet again. He is adapting another book (A Single Man was adapted from Christopher Isherwood’s novel of the same name), but is refusing to let anyone know what book it actually is so it can be somewhat of a surprise. Ford did tease people by telling the public that it’s going to be a thriller, which is definitely a completely new genre compared to his debut movie.
Ford has also apparently changed the title to be different from the original story so that people won’t have any expectations based on a pre-loaded piece of material. The director has also been altering the story and made “considerable revisions” which could leave viewers having no idea what it originally derives from. The movie is supposedly being broken down into two parts with the first being strictly faithful to the original book while the second half will be something totally original and more of Ford’s take on what comes next.
Ford has proven to be a talented director who knows what he’s doing creatively, so he probably knows exactly what he wants to portray on screen and bring to life. There is no word when the movie will be scheduled for release, but it’s still in the early stages and a long ways off.
