The all new 2015 Corvette Stingray is here, and it is easily the best version of the iconic American sports car yet. The Corvette Stingray has been in production for quite some time, and has a history filled with ups and downs. When the car was first introduced back in 1953, it was very popular. However over the years, the car sort of fell out of the picture and people forgot about it. Older versions of the car became dull and uninteresting, as many consumers chose European sports cars over the Stingray. Certain models of older Stingrays were great, however other models were very “meh”. Well the new version is a reason to come back to this awesome car.
Chevrolet and GM went back to the drawing boards with this vehicle and gave it a brand new makeover. While still looking similar to older Stingray’s, the new 2015 version feels fresh and new. It is more aggressive and exotic looking that previous versions; it looks more like a supercar if anything. The new Stingray also performs much better than previous versions as well. To start, the new Corvette is outfitted with a large 6.2 liter V8 engine that provides the car with 460 horses and 460 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 is achieved in 3.8 seconds. Being an American V8 engine, it also sounds absolutely amazing and has a lot of low-end growl. If that engine is to small for you, you can upgrade to the 650 horsepower Z06 engine, which puts this car in supercar territory in terms of raw power. The car then either comes with a new 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed manual transmission depending on what you prefer. The vehicle also packs other sporty features such as carbon fiber parts, a lightweight aluminum alloy frame, an onboard computer system with multiple driving modes, launch control, and much more.
One of the largest complaints with previous versions of the Stingray was that their interiors always felt cheap and lack-luster. Well not to worry, as the new Stingray packs an all new interior that is beautifully designed and feels very premium. Chevrolet also offers plenty of options for potential buyers to make the car even nicer. Around a track the car performs very well for what it is. It handles corners very nicely, and it is quick in the straightways. For a car that starts at $54,000 dollars you really get a great driving experience. Also for the environmentally conscious folks, the car gets 29 miles per gallon on the highway which is amazing for a V8 sports car. The new 2015 Corvette Stingray is easily the best vehicle in terms of “you get what you pay for”. You really get a lot of car, for considerably less when compared to other cars in its class.
