The Very First Tiger Woods Golf Course Opens in Los Cabos

Tiger Woods & Rory Mcllroy Visit "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon"

Tiger Woods has taken more of a backseat from the spotlight of the sports world lately. Since his scandal the golfer has rebuilt his life pretty well and is still a focal point of the golf world. Despite not winning any major tournaments and struggling to golf consistently well, Tiger has been able to occupy himself with other things and regain some popularity in the public eye with things like appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (above) and is even opening his first golf course.

Back in September of this year, Los Cabos, Mexico was hit by Hurricane Odile which heavily damaged most of the landscape and golf courses in the area. Now the golf central of Mexico is back in business with two brand new courses ready for play; the Quivira Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Diamante’s El Cardonal, created by Tiger Woods. This is the first course 18 hole course designed and created by Woods, which opened yesterday December 16th. The course is the 14th in Los Cabos and will really help to begin drawing tourists back to the third most popular travel destination in Mexico.

The new course looks amazing and will surely be a top place to play in the location. Tiger is still focusing on his professional career and not planning to become a full time golf course designer just yet, but saw an opportunity to help rebuild a community through golf. The El Cardonal course is a standard par 72 and is over 7,300 yards in length, which makes it very long and more than likely a challenge to play. The new golf course from Tiger Woods is setting up to be a success for him and Los Cabos, and hopefully will be a good sign for any courses the golfer creates in the future.
