Ah Justin Bieber. A pop star loved by some, and hated by many. When he’s not visiting a Brazilian brothel, racing his Lamborghini while under the influence, throwing eggs at his neighbors, getting arrested, or taking prescription drugs (all of those things happened), he is out on the road performing his music in front of his adoring fans, most of which are young teenage girls. Tickets to see him live are often very expensive, and at most of these shows you can also pay extra for a chance to meet him. But what exactly do these “meet and greets” entail, and how much do they cost? Well we are going to take a look.
Outside of the pop music world, most artists do not make a lot of money on record sales so they rely on touring, merchandising, and now meet and greets to make money. Meet and greets are great ways to make some extra cash as they require little effort on the artists behalf, and it gives fans what they want. With prices for Justin Bieber meet and greet tickets costing anywhere from $500 to even $1,000 dollars, I’d say that its a pretty decent revenue stream.
So what exactly does your thousand dollars get you? Well according to some reports, not too much. Bieber has been notoriously known to show up late to these events. Even when he’s not late, you only get maybe a minute with the artist at most. Thats the deal with pretty much all meet and greets, not just Bieber ones: you stand in a big line waiting for hours, you meet the artist, say hello, grab a selfie, and then you are sent on your way. So in actuality you do not get to spend that much time with the artist themselves. Justin Bieber meet and greet tickets often sell out really quickly too, so you have to be quick to get them. In the end is spending $500-$1,000 dollars really worth it to “meet” Bieber for maybe a minute? I personally don’t think so, but a lot of people do.
