Global Positioning Systems company Garmin has recently diversified its product line again and is selling a wearable “activity tracker” (with smart notifications), similar to some smartwatches on the market today. Garmin wanted to create a simple, yet capable wearable tech that can provide its users with a variety of different tools and functions. Garmin broke into the wearable tech market with its Vivofit, however the Vivosmart has many more features. We are going to take a look at five things you didn’t know about this device.
5. It measures your steps, your heart-rate, and calories burned
Being a fitness related wearable the Vivosmart has a variety of different monitors that calculate how many steps you’ve taken in a day, how many calories burned, and even your heart-rate. The Vivosmart is made to sync with your mobile phone where there is an app that you can download to display all your information in a chart based format. The device itself displays this information, however the app displays it much better. It is important to not that the hear-rate monitor requires a different band. The base cost for the device is $170 and costs $200 with the heart rate monitor.
4. It can receive text, phone call, and email notifications.
The device itself can pair with you smartphone which then allows the Vivosmart to display many different notifications such as text messages, calendar alerts, missed/incoming calls, email, and a variety of other notifications. The Vivosmart will alert you via vibrations, and will display the notifications on its OLED screen.
3. It’s waterproof up to 164 feet
The Vivosmart is waterproof so swimmers can utilize the device when they are working out. The device can reach depths of 164 feet and still function, so if you want to do some shallow water diving, the Vivosmart can come along.
2. It monitors your sleep cycle
Utilizing the devices motion sensors, if you wear the Vivosmart while you sleep it can give you in-depth information about your sleep cycle. The devices tracks your movement while you sleep and calculates how good of a nights sleep you are getting. This information is displayed in the devices smartphone app.
1. It has a 7 day battery life
The Vivosmart, while remaining small and sleek, has an amazing battery life of around 7 days. The problem with other smartwatches and wearable devices is they typically have poor battery life and need to be charged every day. With the Vivosmart you can confidently know that your device will give you 7 days of use.
