Louis Vuitton is a world famous fashion and design brand, whose name is always associated with high class and beauty. The chairman of Moët Hennessy + Louis Vuitton (LVMH), Bernard Arnaud, announced this project about 8 years ago and it is finally coming to light. The Fondation will be a Louis Vuitton art museum and it is finally set to open on October 27th of this year. Erected in West Paris in the Bois de Boulogne district, this structure of impeccable architectural engineering will house 11 different art galleries. The art galleries will feature art from the 20th and 21st century, however it is not clear at this time which artists will be featured. Louis Vuitton wanted to create a structure as a homage to the arts, and they did just that. According to a recent press release from the higher-ups at LVMH, The Fondadtion will try and “encourage and promote contemporary artistic creation”. In addition to the artists that will be featured, The Fondation will also display some artwork of LVMH.
The Fondation was rumored to costs somewhere around $130 to $140 million dollars, and it has seen some difficulty in its creation during its early days. The Fondation saw some opposition as many people protested the building of the museum. The super contemporary structure is located in a park and some Parisians felt that its appearance devalued the surrounding area. The French court even got involved and stopped construction of the building in 2011, but the French Senate then allowed it to continue building. One can easily get lost looking at this magnificent, 126,000 square foot building by architect Frank Gehry. The opening of the museum will sure draw a large crowd and help put itself as a prominent Parisian museum and work of art.
