The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company Shares Guest Stories With “Six Word Wows”

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel

Anyone who has a difficult time summarizing their feelings with Twitter’s 140-character allowance is going to find it impossible to take part in the Ritz-Carlton’s new campaign; though there’s little doubt most people will find a way to convey exactly the message they want during this time. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC, a favorite luxury hotel, is launching a digital campaign in which 8 guests of the Ritz will share their Ritz-Carlton guest experiences. The catch is that they are all told in six words.

The luxury hotel is telling eight unique stories in a grand total of 48 words; that’s six per guest. Appearing on several social media sites, these unique stories are designed to encourage past, present and future guests to share their own personal Ritz-Carlton memories in six words.

Ernest Hemingway, famous novelist, was challenged to write the story, “For Sale: baby shoes, never worn” using only six words. Being used to using thousands of words to tell a single story, the novelist nevertheless found a way to convey a deep and moving message with these six simple words, and the Ritz-Carlton is aiming to do the same. Since social media has made it popular for internet users to summarize their feelings and stories using a limited number of characters, it seemed only right that the Ritz-Carlton would choose to do the same.

The concept is called Six Word Wows and it will be showcased on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Sina Weibo and Google+ — also in Mandarin. “The Six Word Wows are yet another way for us to celebrate the special memories that guests take away form a visit to our hotels all over the world,” explains the Ritz-Carlton’s chief sales and marketing officer, Ed French. He goes on to describe the world’s way of sharing their personal stories online as the modern day version of a campfire.

The brand is passionate about hearing their guests’ stories, which is what led them to create the Six Word Wow campaign. If you want to share your own personal memory or experience involving a stay at the Ritz-Carlton, use hashtag #RCMemories to tell your very own Ritz-Carlton story using social media.
