Given that today is officially opening day in Major League baseball you know there’s going to be a lot of men and women out there surprising their significant others with proposals in the middle of the game. We’ve all seen it before. All of a sudden the huge screen pans to a couple in the seats and a giant text will read something along the lines of “X name, will you marry me?” The crowd goes wild whether it’s a yes or a no. Usually if it’s a no it makes for interesting viral video content.
Have you ever wondered what it actually costs to do this? We did. Thankfully a writer out there, Molly Fitzpatrick took the time to create this detailed infographic on website Swimmingly. She writes, “Though all proceeds go to charity, exactly what’s offered in a proposal package varies tremendously from ballpark to ballpark — some teams even offer multiple price points. The Indians’ fireworks proposal could be the most romantic option, but the Phillies’ four-ticket package is a surprisingly good value. Of course, if you’re feeling thrifty, you could always tuck a ring in your pocket, wait for a pitching change, then pop the question the old-fashioned way. Here’s hoping that — either way — you don’t strike out.”
The article is packed with information on the multiple packages that stadiums offer (just in case you’re interested). I live in New York so for $100 I could get a message displayed at Yankee Stadium with a limit of 10 per game. Or if I’m at Citi Field I have no idea what I could get because they don’t offer proposals. What a bummer! Here’s the infograpic:
