While we all often rave about how great Netflix is—especially those who have gotten addicted to the original series House of Cards, one can’t forget about just how much content Apple TV has to offer viewers. With its variety of programming and streaming options like TV shows, movies and specialized content from subscription channels, the service is one that many people are happy with. Still, as one would imagine, there are other tech companies who take pride in trying to not only compete but hope to overtake Apple in the industry, trying to create products that can help take the prestigious brand down.
One of those companies happen to be Amazon, who is doing their part in creating something that might just steal a few subscribers from Apple TV thanks to the company’s new streaming service. But how is it different than the others?
Apparently, Amazon isn’t just going to have streaming video, but also video games as an option for users to play on their tablet. In a lucrative market like online gaming, the company truly believes that this creates another revenue outlet for the brand to reach consumers in a way that regular programming options like Apple TV, Netflix and Roku—among others—can’t.
Even more progressive than just creating an online gaming outlet as part of the already existent streaming video service, Amazon is even rumored to be designing a gaming controller that would be compatible. There are natural risks with such an idea, but with the loyal customers that Amazon already has, stepping into the gaming sector makes them a double-headed monster that already has both the brand recognition and subscribers to really allow something like that to take off.
Add in the technical support the company prides itself on—after all, that’s what the company was built on—and Amazon just may have another multi-million dollar division in its grasp.
