Alex Rodriguez Net Worth

Alex Rodruiguez

Alex Rodriguez is an American baseball player who has accumulated a net worth of $300 million dollars from contracts, endorsements and various business opportunities. Rodriguez is one of the highest paid professional athletes of all-time, he has earned more than $325 million in contracts alone.

Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez was born on July 27, 1975 in New York, New York to a Dominican family. When he was very young his family moved to the Dominican Republic and then Miami, Florida. In high school, Rodriguez was recognized as the USA Baseball Junior Player of the Year. He forewent a scholarship to play baseball and football at Miami University to join the Seattle Mariners after being drafted in the first round in 1992.

Rodriguez is currently the property of the New York Yankees, but is serving a season long suspension for PED use. Prior to the Yankees, Rodriguez played with the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners. While with the Mariners, Rodriguez broke many records and quickly became a star that lead to a 10-year,$252 million contract with the Texas Rangers. After his third year of the 10-year contract, Rodriguez was traded to the Yankees where he still resides today.

Rodriguez is a wildly successful baseball player despite his connection with PEDs. He’s the youngest player to ever hit 500 home runs and the youngest player to hit 600 home runs as well surpassing Jimmie Foxx and Babe Ruth respectively. He is currently the all-time leader in home runs from a Hispanic player.

Rodriguez’s wealth is largely attributed to his baseball contracts today. Throughout his career he’s had various endorsement deals (Pepsi and Guitar Hero), but is now completely void of endorsements because of his linkage to steroids and current suspension. Rodriguez has accepted the largest suspension in baseball history after a lengthy investigation. The suspension will keep him off the field for the entire 2014 season and jeopardize his financial standing. He is eligible to return in 2015 when he will be 39-years old.

Rodriguez is divorced with two-children. He’s been linked to various celebrities including Torrie Wilson and Cameron Diaz. Among Rodriguez’s business ventures, he owns a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Texas. He owns a $30 million mega mansion in Miami. He has done some philanthropy work in his lifetime. He donated $3.9 million to the University of Miami to renovate its baseball stadium. The new facility was named the “Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field”. Despite not having attended the school Rodriguez has received an Alumnus of Distinction Award in 2007 as an honorary alum. He is a member of the University of Miami’s Board of Trustees.

Alex Rodriguez’s net worth is not largely in jeopardy because of his connection to PEDs. As mentioned above, he’ll be 39-years old when he is eligible to return to the game of baseball with a year off. He has also tarnished his name when it comes to endorsement and future employment. It’ll be easy to imagine that A-Rod’s net worth will be on a steady decline.
