Priceline is Now Offering Luxury Cars

Priceline To Buy Online Reservation Service OpenTable For 2.6 Billion

Everyone knows what Priceline is thanks to those commercials with William Shatner (photographed on the Priceline website above) and Kaley Cuco (who plays Shatner’s daughter in the ads) that constantly play on TV no matter what channel I’m watching. However, while you may know about Priceline’s deals when it comes to getting great deals on booking hotels across the country, you may not have heard yet that Priceline is now offer luxury cars through its website as well.

The new rental car service from Priceline, which is called Fun Rides, allows customers the opportunity to enjoy rides in luxury and specialty vehicles. Now users of Priceline have the chance to drive in luxury cars while enjoying their vacation destinations, if they choose

“We believe travelers will have a variety of reasons to choose a ‘fun ride,'” stated Bill Jose, senior vice president of the rental car unit of Priceline.com, in a company press release. Jose says that the new luxury car service is supposed to “add an element of excitement to your next trip.”

Currently, the type of vehicles that Priceline is offering are specialty sedans, muscle cars, sportsters and convertibles. These luxury cars come from a range of suppliers, including Avis Budget, Hertz, and Sixt. After making the announcement about its new car service, Priceline saw its shares rise dramatically.

This new option for luxury cars comes as Priceline is attempting to expand its services to customers.  Priceline just revamped its mobile app, allowing for quicker and easier access to Priceline features, and earlier this month, the company acquired the online reservation firm OpenTable.
