Luxury Doggie Daycare? Yes, It Exists and It’s Pretty Amazing

dog hotel

I don’t have a dog; I had a dog. It didn’t end well. However, if I still had a dog, I’d certainly want to ensure that he went to a luxury doggie daycare. I mean, he’s part of my family. I wouldn’t choose a subpar childcare facility for my little ones, and I certainly would not choose a subpar care facility for my dog. Growing up, we had a Great Dane. I loved that dog, but anytime we traveled as a family my grandparents cared for her. That was a time when life was simple and people had time to do favors like that for others.

Today, caring for animals is much more difficult. It’s not easy to find a family member who is not so busy they can take care of your animal and love it the way that you want when you cannot be home with your little one. Everyone is so busy. However, people are beginning to realize that and they’re taking the initiative to change it. More and more, dogs are like kids to so many people and that means that their ‘parents’ don’t want them home alone and bored all day long. Perhaps the idea of leaving your beloved canine companion locked in his or her kennel for 8-10 hours all week while you’re at work is not an idea you love. Your alternative, however, is to let your dog roam free in the house and potentially chew your Louboutins or use the bathroom on your Aubusson rugs.

No, thank you. That doesn’t sound amazing. Fortunately, if you live near a bigger city, you probably have access to something that’s really unique. It’s called a doggie daycare. Not to be confused with a dog hotel or resort or spa or whatever it is that caters to animals when you are out of town traveling for multiple days at a time; this is a place you take your dog for the day while you’re at work. He gets to play with his friends. He gets to run around. He gets treats, and hopefully someone there will teach him a few tricks (such as not to chew the Louboutins or mistake that antique rug for a patch of grass in the yard).

Luxury doggie daycares are a real thing – even if you’re smiling a shaking your head. This is not your vet’s office with functional and efficient kennels, someone to walk and play with the dogs throughout the day and someone to keep them healthy while you’re away. This is something even better; this is a luxury doggie daycare for your pets. Some are hotels, some are daily daycare facilities; all are luxurious.

What is in a luxury doggie daycare or hotel?

That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? If you’re sending your canine companion to a luxury daycare or hotel, you probably have to open your wallet and pay a premium; your dog better get the best of the best. Every one is different, but each one offers more than you can imagine.

One doggie hotel in Indiana called Auntie Barbara’s Bed, Bath & Biscuit provides your dog with 10-acres of farm land on which to roam. This includes a furnished, temperature-controlled private room for each doggie guest at night, and all dogs have their own beds and pillows. There is a pool for the dogs, there is an onsite groomer, and there is even a vet that comes once a month to check on the animals and provide them with a checkup.

Taking it even further is the Pooch Hotel in several states. This hotel features a doggie spa with aromatherapy techniques and even a fitness center for dogs that need to get their good health in order. This hotel is one that works as both a daycare for working parents and a hotel for those who need someone to care for their beloved animal when travel calls.

At the K-9 Resorts Daycare and Luxury Hotel in New Jersey, your dog is getting his own plasma television in his private room. He’s also getting a sound-proof room of his own so that the loud barking of other pet guests does not disturb his rest. Did we mention that the dogs here sleep in Gucci beds, receive a daily doggie ice cream treat and drink only Evian spring water when visiting? And finally, the Barkley Pet Hotel even provides your family with photos of your dog’s luxury stay when you pick him up, and car rides for those who love to stick their head out the window.

Let’s face it; dogs are being treated better than humans these days, and it’s probably because they don’t go around shooting their friends and posting incessant political memes supporting Democrats on social media. When the dog is being transported to and from McDonalds for a burger in the same private black car service you use on vacation, you know you have finally made it in the world.

Is This the Right Choice for My Dog?

We cannot answer that for you. What we can tell you is that you have options if you can afford them. The rates for these daycares and hotels vary greatly, and depend on many factors. What kind of dog you have, the size of your dog, the age of your dog, the training capabilities of your dog and the personal preferences you have for your canine companion all play a large role in what you will pay at a facility of this nature.

From bedtime stories personalized for your pet to chew toy rentals, luxury doggie daycare and hotel stays are more than a little bit normal these days. There is no reason to leave your beloved pet with anyone or anywhere in which he is not getting the kind of love and attention that he needs, and that means he’s going to love you even more when you allow him to enjoy a luxury vacation of his own. Don’t worry; everyone is doing it these days.
