The World’s Most Expensive Easter Egg

Coloured Egg Producer Gears Up For Easter

It’s the Friday before Easter weekend. As children around the world get prepared for their Sunday morning Easter egg hunt it’s only right we highlight the world’s most expensive Easter egg. In case you were wondering, it’s not one of those beauties you see above.

The world’s most expensive Easter egg is a cross between a Faberge egg and the Damien Hurst skull. Given the name ‘Mirage’, the $8.4 million egg is constructed with over 1,000 diamonds on the outer surface. The surface diamonds, many of which are unique cuts, are worth $2.5 million alone. There’s more to this egg than just the outer shell of diamonds.

Inside the egg is an 18-carat gold globe with an absolutely brilliant rock crystal design of a dove perched on a golden olive branch. The egg was designed by Manfred Wild over three years! Yes, this egg took three years to make. The private owner has no designs to sell this egg, however reports say that if the price is right he might be convinced to do so.

Every inch of this egg is absolute extravagant beauty. Designers from all over the world chipped in to create this masterpiece. While it’s completely a waste of time and resources, it is a beautifully constructed Easter egg.
