The $1 Million RM 07-02 “Pink Lady” from Richard Mille is Almost Entirely Made from Pink Sapphire

The most recent creation from Richard Mille, the RM 07-02 “Pink Lady”, is an impressive timepiece for a number of different reasons: it has a fairly complex movement, it’s beautiful looking, there are many diamonds on iy, and it costs about $1 million dollars. However the most impressive aspect of this timepiece is that it is almost entirely made from pink sapphire.

Richard Mille is known for their daring and high-end creations, and this newest timepiece is no exception. Richard Mille first unveiled their first watch made from sapphire back in 2012, and they have since been some of the brands most expensive creations. The RM 07-02’s caseband, bezel, and case bark are entirely made from solid blocks of pink sapphire that originally came from one single piece. While it’s technically synthetic sapphire, it’s still as beautiful and as strong as naturally occurring sapphire (only diamonds are stronger). According to Richard Mille, it took them some 40 days to just create the case.

From there Richard Mille has included many other premium features and materials. The case screws are made from Grade 5 titanium, the ball bearings are made from 5N red gold, there are a total of 25 jewels, and the watch has a bunch of diamonds in the face. Combine all these facts together, and you’ve got a million dollar timepiece on your hands. The RM 07-02 Pink Lady is yet another timepiece in Richard Mille’s ever growing sapphire case collection, and we hope that it’s not the last since they are all just so beautiful.
