Roger Moore Bond Rolex to be Auctioned in Geneva

Roger Moore James Bond Rolex to be auctioned off

For the “frugal” watch enthusiast, an auction dedicated entirely to high-end timepieces is a great place to pick up a nice watch for a more affordable price. Watch collectors know just how much money some watches can get, and when you’re dealing with watches from brands like Rolex, Breitling, or Omega, things get expensive real quick. This is why watch auctions are so popular as you can often find watches at a good price, that is, unless they have some significant meaning. Well as Luxuo reports, a rare Rolex Submariner that was worn by Roger Moore in the popular James Bond Live and Let Die is headed to be auctioned off at Geneva, and it’s expected to fetch a lot of money:

A vintage Rolex Submariner that had a starring role in the James Bond movie “Live and Let Die” is set to go under the hammer in Switzerland November 7. The wristwatch was made in 1972 and shot to fame a year later when Roger Moore used its powers to escape myriad dangerous situations, to the delight of 1 billion viewers. As well as being able to cut through rope, the watch featured a hyper-intensified magnetic field with the ability to deflect bullets and even boasted a magnetic reach capable of unzipping dresses and catching spoons from coffee saucers.

The iconic watch comes signed inside the caseback “Roger Moore 007”, and is expected to fetch 150,000 – 250,000 Swiss Francs (approximately $151,000 – $252,000) when it goes up for auction on November 7 at the Geneva Watch Auction: Two. The Geneva Watch Auction: Two will run from November 7-8 and is estimated to realize over $14 million.

Fans of both James Bond and Rolex can revel in the fact that they can now get their hands on an actual Rolex that was worn by Roger Moore. The stainless steel Rolex is one of the most iconic models that the brand offers, which makes this piece extremely appealing. Additionally the watch comes with some James Bond memorabilia, like three still shots from Live and Let Die.

While the Rolex is quite special, you have to wonder if it’s really “worth” the price that it’s estimated at. If it does go for around $252,000 dollars, and I’m sure it will, it would be interesting to see what other kind of timepieces you can get for that money. Regardless if you want a Rolex that was officially worn by James Bond, you now have the chance to buy come come November 7th.
