Mint 1953 Tissot Navigator Watch is the First of Its Kind

Tissot Navigator Worldtimer

For watch collectors around the world, nearly all prefer to own vintage and rare pieces over their remade counterparts. This probably comes as no surprise, but it obviously can be extremely difficult to find an original piece in working condition, especially one that is made from a luxury watch manufacturer. Well watch fans around the world can rejoice as a 62 year old Tissot has recently been found.

Tissot can trace their roots as a company all the way back to 1853 in Switzerland, meaning they have been producing some great timepieces for awhile now. While the watch in question is not that old, it is in absolutely amazing condition. The Tissot Navigator Worldtimer was (and is) a very popular type of watch that the company sold. The company recently brought back a remake to serve as a tribute to the Worldtimer, however the old and vintage ones are considered to be the best.

A website known as Ore del Mondo have recently gotten their hands on an original Worldtimer from 1953, and it has been kept in amazing condition. They are advertising the watch as “mint” and it appears as if no one has ever worn the timepiece since it was purchased. The most notable feature of the Worldtimer is it’s ability to display the timezones of many different cities around the world. Back before the digital age was a thing, this was a pretty great feature to have.

The other differences between this watch and the remake are that this watch is actually smaller than the new one that Tissot currently owns. Additionally this vintage is actually cheaper. Assuming you would purchase the new one in gold ($8,250), it actually costs more money than this rare vintage piece thats priced at around $4,300. The vintage one is also made from gold and it has more “history” to it! If the watch interests you than you better act fast as their is no telling when Ore del Mondo will sell it, as their is only one.
