While many people would consider Rolex to be a prominent high-end watch company, and it is, there are many other companies out there that create absolutely insane timepieces that make Rolex’s look like cereal box toys. These timepieces are typically reserved for oil barons, billionaires, Saudi princes, and real estate moguls as their cost to own one is just so high. Well the prominent jewelry and timepieces manufacturer known as Jacob & Co. have recently released a new watch and it is as absurd as it is luxurious. Meet the $2.4 million dollar watch made almost entirely from emeralds.

The watch is called the Caviar Emerald Tourbillon, and it is from the companies prized “High Jewelry Masterpiece” collection. Essentially this collection combines the companies best jewelry with their incredible timepieces to deliver a line of products rivaled by none. According to sources, this watch took nearly two years to make, as it was extremely difficult to hunt down all the emeralds that were right for the watch. In total, there are 424 emeralds in this watch weighing in at 32.39 carats. Of course they are all matching in terms of color and size. It also apparently took them an entire year after collecting all the stones to set them in just the right way.

The parts of this watch that are non-emerald and made from 18-karat gold, so all-in-all this is as premium as it gets for a luxury timepiece. The watch has a Jacob & Co. JCBM05 manual mechanical movement which is exclusive to this timepiece, and of course, a flying tourbillon that beats at a frequency of 21,600 bph. The watch also has a 100 hour power reserve, so you don’t have to worry about it running out of juice when you aren’t wearing it. Finally the watch has an emerald-green watch strap made from alligator leather.

While it may be difficult for a wearer to match this watch with an outfit, it is still an absolutely amazing timepiece. There really aren’t any watches like this, considering the case is made entirely from emeralds. It’s also extremely expensive at $2,435,800 dollars but that is to be expected considering the materials and the amount of time that have gone into creating this timepiece. But don’t get too excited if you can actually afford this watch, as only just 3 units have been produced.
