Tampa Prepares For Republican National Convention And Potential Hurricane

Opening in July, Marlon Brando’s private island, Tetiaroa, will feature the newly-0pened resort called The Brando. The resort has been opened to commemorate the tenth anniversary of The Godfather‘s death.

The eco-friendly resort sits about 30 miles north of Tahiti in French Polynesia. The all-inclusive resort features 35 deluxe villas all with their own private beach. Other features that make The Brando Villas one-of-a-kind include plunge pools, restaurants featuring Polynesian and French cuisine, a Polynesian spa, a lagoon-view bar, beach bar, pool, organic garden, library, boutique, water sports and an environmental research station made available for guests.

Brando was always passionate about preserving Tetiaroa’s natural beauty. When describing the island he said,

“My mind is always soothed when I imagine myself sitting on my South Sea island at night. If I have my way, Tetiaroa will remain forever a place that reminds Tahitians of what they are and what they were centuries ago”

The project first picked up steam in 1999 when Brando partnered with Richard Bailey, a resident of Tahiti. Bailey, who created and operates some of the world’s finest resorts, was part of a Brando partnership that sought to create the world’s first post-carbon resort. The Brando is the first step of realizing the dream of a self-sustaining resort with its own research facility.

The 2.5-mile island is only reachable via private plane. It’s a gorgeous hidden treasure that features white beaches, coconut-bearing palms,  and exotic birds and marine life. It sounds like the ultimate getaway, but it won’t come cheap? According to reports, and evening stay will cost you £7,500. Yes, that means you’re looking at about $10,000 a night.
