Five of The Most Expensive Restaurants in San Francisco

Expensive Restaurants in San Francisco

In many ways, San Francisco is like the New York City of the west coast: It’s big, really expensive, and filled with some of the best restaurants in the entire world. In places like these cities, it can be very difficult to pick out a restaurant to dine at as there is a seemingly endless amount of options and almost all of them are really good. So what are some of the places to go if you are seeking a luxurious and expensive dining experience? We are going to take a look at five of the most expensive restaurants that are located in San Francisco.

5. Benu

Benu is a great restaurant located in the South of Market neighborhood of the city. This is one of those restaurants where they prepare some crazy and interesting dishes that are basically works of art. The restaurant is fairly small and fills up quickly. There is no menu, you just drop $228 per person and then they will bring you out a series of different dishes. The tasting menu also changes regularly so you never know what you are going to get.

4. Sons & Daughters

Located at 708 Bush Street, Sons & Daughters is another restaurants where there’s no menu and they just bring you out a series of dishes. Most of their dishes are inspired by traditional American cuisine and the seasons, but you can expect some interesting and unique dishes as well.

3. Opaque

Opaque is a fairly different and expensive restaurant that is located at 1500 Sutter Street. The restaurants tagline is “dining in the dark”, and you can expect a dining experience like no others. Essentially the dining room is almost pitch black so you cannot even see what you are eating. They describe it as a “more stimulating experience” and it certainly makes for an interesting time. If you’re a picky eater I wouldn’t recommend dining here as it is more for the adventurous.

2. Gary Danko

Gary Danko is an upscale American restaurant that serves a variety of different dishes. Like some of the others, it is also a tasting menu restaurant, so they select the dishes for you. Their menu is always changing and ever since they have opened they have consistently received high praise. Currently the tasting menu is five course and it costs $117 dollars.

1. Saison

Saison is one of the best and most expensive restaurants in all of San Francisco. It’s a high-end restaurant that serves a few dishes and also has a tasting menu. The menu changes on a daily basis and they get the freshest ingredients from the surrounding area. They are also almost always booked as some patrons have waited two months to get a reservation here.
