A Drug Lord’s Mansion Can Be Yours For Only a Few Million Dollars

When you think of castles in upstate New York, you might not think of them as having been owned by drug dealers.  However, the Skaneateles mansion in Onondaga County will be going to auction next month.   The house was owned by Charles Ludwig Blomquist III, who was sentenced to 7 years in prison in 2013 on charges of money laundering connected to cocaine trafficking.   Apparently Blomquist was notorious in the region even before all the drug convictions came to light.

The last time the house was on the market in 2014 it was asking for $4.33 million.  The auction currently has a reserve of $2.25 million.  So if you’ve got a few million that you could offload, the blue-roofed, lakefront palace can be all yours.   Local papers speculate that residents hate Blomquist and for that reason few would have interest in it.

Rumor has it that he was a terrible neighbor who angered people during the home’s construction.  Blomquist would move piles of dirt around to block his neighbors’ lake views.  He even set up mannequin hands with middle fingers raised in his windows.

The house is currently owned by developer Cosimo Zavaglia, who won it in an IRS auction for $1.55 million in 2012, after Blomquist gave it up as part of his plea deal. Zavaglia added $120,000 custom garage doors, and more, and is now hoping to cash in.  Check out the pictures below.
