19th-Century Sea Fort Opens up as a Luxury Hotel

No Man's Fort

There is a select breed of travelers out there in the world that are drawn to adventure, unique sights, and places that are just downright absurd. While many prefer to seek accommodations in standard luxury hotels, some like to stay in ones that are a bit, well, different. One such example of a hotel that meets that criteria would be No Man’s Fort, and there aren’t many places quite like this.

The English hotel and venue company known as AmaZing Venues seeks out historic sites and locations and then turns them into prized hotels, and No Man’s Fort is their most recent work. The have resurrected an old, 19th-century English sea fort that was abandoned and have done some pretty remarkable things with it. It’s located out off the southern coast of England, about 1.4-miles from the Isle of Wight and it can only be accessed via boat or helicopter. The hotel boasts incredible views, it’s own lighthouse, 75,000-square-feet of space, 22 bedrooms that sleep 44, modern amenities, conference rooms that can accommodate 200 people, and much more.

The fort was constructed between 1867 and 1880, so in keeping with the Victorian Era, all of the rooms have been elegantly designed and furnished to give off that luxury Victorian vibe. Despite the fact that this was a military installation, AmaZing Venues has done a great job to not make it feel like one. It doesn’t feel like a bunker, but rather a quality hotel. Outside of the various rooms, there are plenty of other opportunities to relax. The hotel offers a few rooftop hot tubs, a sauna, various sun decks, an exterior terrace, plenty of lounge chairs, and even a wine tasting area for when you want to get sophisticated.

No Man’s Fort also offers a bar, a restaurant, a few lounges, private dining rooms, an entertainment center, a pool, a billiards room, and more. The hotel also boast a host of activities for guests to partake in like ocean kayaking, fishing, jet ski riding, speed boat trips, a treasure hunt, and rum/wine tasting events. They even have laser tag and mini golf here; it’s truly remarkable what they were able to fit on this ocean fort. Rooms start at $510 for the basic offerings, while the premium penthouse suite in the lighthouse is around $800 to $1,000 per night, depending on the rates. Still as attractive as all these features and offerings are, you really come to No Man’s Fort for the unique experience of staying at a renovated military base located out in the water. Where else can you do that?
