One of the all-time greatest comfort foods has gone next level at the Deca Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. When you think about grilled cheese, I’m sure it conjures up fond memories of your childhood, maybe something your mom made you when you weren’t feeling to hot – either way it’s been a constant in our lives for years. With all the fond memories of the tasty treat, I’m sure spending $100 for one isn’t one of those memories.

Deca Restaurant is celebrating National Grilled Cheese Month by introducing the $100 grilled cheese. The sandwich features rare Black Iberico Ham, artisan country sourdough bread and, yes, 24K gold. It’s called the Zillion Dollar Grilled Cheese and it looks magnificent.  The entire sandwich is a collection of rare delicacy foods including aged, cured 12 month ham, a rare extra virgin olive oil, 100-year old aged balsamic vinaigrette, and 40-year old aged Wisconsin cheddar infused with 24k gold flakes. According to creators what makes the sandwich so unique is not only the gold infused cheese, but the Black Iberico Ham. It’s allegedly so rare that up until a few years ago you couldn’t get it into the United States.

The Zillion Dollar Grilled Cheese is certainly a masterpiece – a masterpiece that costs $100. If you’re in Chicago, have a couple extra bucks, and are looking to celebrate National Grilled Cheese Month than I see no better way than to stop by Deca Restaurant. I suggest you savor each bite!
