Gourmet Dining 1,250 Feet In the Air in a Cable Car?

A cable car brings skiers to the summit at the Poiana Brasov ski resort in the Bucegi mountains

Nowadays there are plenty of unique dining locations around the world that offer fantastic meals and interesting experiences that make a great story; however, nothing will ever come close to having the opportunity to dine in a cable car suspended at 1,250 feet in the air. 40 lucky couples will have the chance at the Paradiski ski area in France, where this one-time experience will allow them to enjoy a gourmet French meal while riding the Vanoise Express; the world’s longest cable car line, which can transport around 2,000 passengers in an hour with only a 4 minute long ride.

The dinner will last a total of two hours and the cable car will begin its normal ride until stopping at a certain point to let customers take in the unbelievable French Alps that are surrounding them on every side. The location where the cable car stops moving is in the portion of the Ponthurin Valley that sits between two different ski resorts called Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne.

The ride will begin at 7 pm and both the levels of the double decker cable car will be used. One section will be dressed up in a baroque style with special chairs, tables and chandeliers for the occasion. The night’s menu will feature a “mountain cuisine” which is being specially created by a mystery gourmet chef.

Those hoping to enjoy this dining excursion will have to be in the area on vacation during the week of February 12th to have a chance. They will be entered into the contest by simply paying at the register for no extra charge. The 40 guests will be randomly chosen to experience this once in a lifetime dining opportunity.
