Five Amazing Restaurant Dishes in NYC

New York Restaurant Dishes

New York City is home to not only some of the best restaurants and food in the country, but the entire world as well. The city is such a large melting pot of many different ethnicities and cultures, so it should be no surprise that you can get some pretty amazing food here. What makes New York City different from other places is that on one block you can enjoy some classic Italian food, and then a few blocks away you can get traditional Moroccan food. The sheer volume of restaurants that the city has is overwhelming, and there are many great options to choose from so it is difficult to pick dishes that standout from the rest. We are going to take a brief glance at five amazing dishes that some restaurants in New York City have to offer.

5. The Duck a l’Orange from Dirty French

Duck a l'Orange

Located at 180 Ludlow Street is the restaurant and rotisserie known as Dirty French. The restaurant serves up its own unique takes on classic French food, and the Duck a l’Orange is pretty amazing. First they take two duck breasts and cook them with a variety of flavorings until they are medium-rare. They then add a sauce that is comprised of vinegar-stopped caramel, reduced citrus, fennel, and coriander seeds that make the dish out of this world.

4. The Chicken Liver Mousse from Tuome

Chicken Liver Mousse

Now when you think to yourself “chicken liver mousse”, you might be a little put off. However this interesting dish that chef Thomas Chen serves up at Tuome at 536 East 5th Street is pretty amazing. Located somewhere in-between a normal dish and a desert, the chicken liver mousse is unique and spectacular. The dish comes with sweet bread that you dip into the mousse that is garnished with maple syrup. Decorated with greens and Maldon, this dish is extremely forward thinking and delicious.

3. The Prime Rib at Cherche Midi

Prime Rib

Next up we have the prime rib from Cherche Midi, which is their unique take on steak-frites. The meat is aged for a month, which brings forth new textures and flavors when it is finally cooked. The dish is served rare (as all steak should, in my opinion) in a umami au jus sauce. Accompanied with souffléd potatoes, this dish will surely leave you pleased.

2. The Tripe Pizza from Marta

Tripe Pizza

New York City is known for their pizzas, but if you want one that is a little different than the tripe pizza from Marta in Manhattan is a good choice. Chef Nick Ander serves up some amazing pizza cooked in wood ovens, and the tripe pizza is pretty spectacular. This rich dish is comprised of long-braised tripe, tomatoes, wine, chili, and mint that is served up in a small pizza.

1. The Poussin with Rice from Bar Bolonat

Poussin with Rice

Bar Bolonat has many great dishes, but the poussin with rice is one of their bests. Poussin is a young chicken, which while smaller than normal chickens, is packed with more flavor. Chef Einat Admony serves up this dish for two, and each bite is better than the next. The chicken is cooked and served whole with a variety of spices and seasons and is accompanied by small potatoes and yellow rice. The pomegranate glaze on top really makes this dish out of this world.
