Five of the Most Ridiculous Apocalypse Shelters You Will Ever See

Five of the Most Ridiculous Apocalypse Shelters You Will Ever See

For whatever reason, there has always been a small percentage of the human race that has predicted the end times. It seems like for the longest time there’s always been some crazy individual talking about when the world will end and how. These doomsday scenarios range from a nuclear holocaust or the Earth getting hit by an asteroid to the more extreme (and unlikely) events like a zombie outbreak. Most people dismiss these obviously absurd apocalypse scenarios, however some take them a bit too far. It starts out with stocking your basement with freeze dried food and it ends with constructing an underground bunker that can survive a nuclear blast. Believe it or not, a few people out there have actually invested in and created some apocalypse shelters that they hope will protect them from the end times. Here are five of the craziest and most ridiculous apocalypse shelters that actually exist.

Atlas Survival Shelters

Atlas Survival Shelters

5. The Pipe Shelters from Atlas Survival Shelters

Atlas Survival Shelters is an American company that specializes in the production of apocalypse shelters. Their products range from small shelters to entire underground complexes, however their Pipe Shelters are their most popular products. The shelters are constructed from large stainless steel pipes that apparently can last for upwards of 200 years. The pipes are outfitted with some bunk beds, a bathroom, a small kitchen, storage compartments for food and supplies, a living room, an air filtration system, and more. They also offer potential customers a range of options that include 5,000 gallon water tanks and radiation detection devices. The pipes are then burred at least 20-feet underground and are accessed via a secured hatch that’s located above ground. They can be installed almost anywhere and come in a few different models. However expect to pay upwards of $50,000 dollars for their most basic models. A small price to pay to save you from a zombie outbreak.

Hardened Structures Genesis Bunker

4. The Hardened Structures Genesis Bunker

Hardened Structures is a company that is very similar to Atlas Survival Shelters. They specialize in constructing bunkers, fortifying homes, converting old missile silos into shelters, and creating apocalypse shelters. One of their more practical products are their Genesis Series bunkers. They are similar in concept to the Atlas Pipe Shelters, but these are apparently the largest pre-fabricated steel shelters in the world. They are designed to be buried underground and then you would build your home on top of the bunker. They offer blast doors, small generators, air filtration systems that can filter out nuclear fallout and other harmful chemicals, protection from earthquakes, shield you from EMP blasts, and more. They have a few rooms for beds, a living room area, a small kitchen, and plenty of room for storage. I haven’t been able to find out how much they cost, but they seem like a very legitimate company. For more information, head on over to their website.

The Atlas Missile Silo Luxury Condos

3. The Atlas Missile Silo Luxury Condos

The Atlas Missile Silio Luxury Condos is an on-going project that is lead by developer Larry Hall. Essentially he is buying old missile silos that were constructed during the Cold War in Kansas, and is converting them into some pretty impressive shelters. These shelters are not just simply utilitarian bunkers, but legitimate luxury condos. They offer the expected features like thick walls, blast doors, air filtration systems, and generators but go much further than just survival features. Larry plans to install indoor pools, a home theater, a personal gym, a rock wall, a small doctors office, and more. The condos range in size from small, 920-square-foot units to large 3,200-square-foot units. They are priced between $1.5 to $4.5 million dollars, so you can only get one if you’re extremely wealthy.

Vivos Europa One

2. Vivos Europa One

The Vivos Europa One is another on-going project that is currently being developed in Germany. During the Cold War, the Soviets constructed a massive underground bunker that spans over 76-acres. Vivos is now converting this large complex into the perfect shelter for billionaires of the world. The shelter can sustain an impact from an airplane, it can survive biological threats, withstand nuclear bombs that have been detonated nearby, and pretty much any other threat you can imagine. The complex is comprised of 227,904-square-feet of space that is now being converted into a luxurious apocalypse shelter. Once completed, Vivos Europa One will include multiple apartments, a few pools, a movie theater, a small power plant, private gyms, a few restaurants, and more, all of which are styled in a fashion that’s fit for billionaires.

Svalbard Global Seed Vault

1. The Svalbard Global Seed Vault

Svalbard is a remote archipelago located in the Arctic Ocean that is one of the northernmost locations where people live year-round. Svalbard is a place where there are more polar bears than humans, and it is also home to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a large bunker that contains the seeds of nearly every plant in the entire world. It was constructed incase the planet ever experienced a massive crisis or an apocalypse, in the hopes that the seeds would be protected and then can be used to revive the Earth. Since it’s located far North in a remote location and built with the apocalypse in mind, it’s probably one of the best doomsday shelter in the world. Let’s just hope that we never have to use it.
