
Ever since eBay launched back in the 1990’s, some pretty incredible things have been put up for sale. This website allows people from all around the world to connect and then buy and trade a wide range of different products. We’ve seen everything from vintage cars to even human organs listed on the site, and you can find almost anything on eBay. But in the history of the site, which items were sold for the most amount of money? You would probably be surprised as to what they are, and how much they actually went for. So here are five of the most expensive things ever sold on eBay.

5. The “God Letter” by Albert Einstein – $3 Million
Alber Einstein is arguably one of the most important and famous scientists of all time, and his personal work is extremely valuable. One letter in particular, called the “God Letter”, was sold on eBay in 2012 for around $3 million dollars. The letter was written right before Einstein died, and it was originally sent to Erik Gutting. In the letter Einstein discusses his views on God and why he does not think he exists.

4. Action Comic No. 1 – $3.2 Million
Rare comic books can sell for substantial amounts of money, but one of the most expensive ones of all time was sold on eBay. It was the first issue of Action Comics that came out in 1938, and it was the first comic book that featured Superman. Less than 50 exist in its original condition, and one particular issue was sold for $3.2 million.

3. A Grave Site Above Marilyn Monroe’s – $4.6 Million
One of the strangest things ever sold on eBay is also one of the most expensive. Back in 2009 a woman by the name of Elsie Poncher put her husbands crypt up on sale on eBay. The space was located in the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery, and happened to be located right above where Marilyn Monroe was laid to rest. The bid started at $500,000 dollars and quickly rose to $4.6 million. But the anonymous buyer that won the bid, eventually backed out as they could not afford it.

2. A Gulfstream II Private Jet – $4.9 Million
Private jets are obviously quite expensive, and one was actually listed on eBay. Back in 2001, a company known as Tyler Jet purchased a large Gulfstream II jet off of the website for an incredible $4.9 million dollars. At the time of the sale, it was the most expensive item ever sold on eBay.

1. The Frank Mulder Gigayacht – $170 Million
The most expensive item ever sold on eBay was a massive yacht from Frank Mulder that was simply called the “Gigayacht”. The company known as 4Yacht put the vessel up on the site back in 2006 and it was sold to an anonymous buyer for $170 million. Many believe that Chelsea Football Club owner and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich purchased the 405-foot yacht for that incredible price. That was just a drop in the bucket for him, as he is now worth around $9.1 billion.
