The IMAX Theater only Fit for a $30 Million Yacht

The "Shark" Superyacht

Roberto Cavalli is a successful Italian fashion designer and yacht enthusiast from Florence that has risen to fame through his exotically designed pairs of jeans. using exotic prints and even creating the “sand-blasted” look on jeans has allowed Cavalli to become a staple in the fashion industry and find tons of success. Through his success he has become quite the yacht enthusiast, owning a $30 million boat called “Shark.” Now, Cavalli is searching for ways to take his super yacht to the next level and enhance the experience for anyone that steps on board.

Cavalli’s solution to improve his yacht was by finding a way to have a private IMAX theater installed on board, which has led to a group of yacht lovers who all want to see this done. The company, Yacht Intelligence, is teaming up with super yacht enthusiasts to create the first private theater on board a yacht that would be a massive 150 meters. The yacht is being designed by Ken Freivokh, who is a well known yacht builder that always has fresh and modern design ideas and is always willing to accomplish something new with boats.

The IMAX theater will find its main use in showing whatever the latest movies are, but a very cool feature is that it will be able to show live projected underwater images from outside and under the yacht while sailing. These projections will be on all walls in the theater room and allow for guests to experience something entirely new. The room will have “sliding walls” and not doors to give the room a seamless feeling and provide the best projection onto each wall.

The all new 4k projection systems will give the room the clearest pictures and really immerse guests into the movie or oceanic scene they are viewing. Including an IMAX theater on the yacht should be no problem as long as the boat is at least 100 meters long and the theater is planned for in the early development stages of the design. Current technology is pretty amazing, and having IMAX theaters on board of yachts will be another step towards the future if all successfully goes according to plan.
