Our Top Ten Supercar Picks for 2015

Best supercars 2015

A supercar is essentially a vehicle that aims to offer the best possible driving experience imaginable. These vehicles are the complete package: they look good, are luxurious, have the best build quality, and above all else, they are the best performing vehicles that you can buy. In recent auto shows we’ve seen many companies unveil their newest supercars, so we are going to take a look at our top ten supercar picks for 2015. All of these vehicles on the list are either just coming out, or will be available sometime within the year. But most importantly, they are all the newest supercars that are on the horizon.

10. The Acura NSX

Acura NSX

The highly-anticipate Acura/Honda NSX was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show this year, and it will be the first supercar from the brand in over ten years. The Acura NSX will be a plug-in, hybrid-supercar that offers a twin-turbocharged V6 and three electric motors. Since its from Acura/Honda it will most likely be affordable, reliable, yet still extremely premium.

9. The Aston Martin Vulcan

Aston Martin Vulcan

“Coming soon”, the Aston Martin Vulcan is the newest Aston Martin, and it’s shaping up to be an insane car. This will be a supercar that offers unbelievable levels of performance. It offers so much performance, that you cannot even drive it on the roads as it is a track-only car. It will have a 7.0 liter V12 engine that offers 800bhp, and that is the most powerful engine that Aston has ever made in history. It’s also expected to cost $2.3 million, which is absurdly high considering you cannot legally drive this car on the roads.

8. The Mercedes-AMG GT S

Mercedes-AMG GT S

The all-new Mercedes-AMG GT S is finally here, and we certainly consider it to be one of the best supercars this year. It’s lighter and more powerful that the old SLS. It offers a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine. 0-60 mph is achieved in 3.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 193 mph. It’s also a Mercedes so you can expect the best luxury features around. All-in-all, it’s a pretty great supercar for “only” $130,000.

7. The New Audi R8

New Audi R8

The new Audi R8 is also here, and it is easily the best R8 to date. It borrows the platform found on the Lamborghini Huracan and it features V10 that comes in two configurations. The first one offers 540hp and then the R8 “Plus” model offers 610hp, which makes it the fastest car Audi has ever produced.

6. The Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce

Lamborghini Aventador SV

The current Lamborghini Aventador is an absolutely amazing vehicle, however it’s going to get even better with the SV variant. They have improved the vehicle in nearly every way, but the biggest draw is the power. This Lambo’s V12 now offers 740hp and can accelerate to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. What’s not to love?

5. The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003S

The SCG 003 is a limited production super from the company known as Scuderia Cameron Gilkenhaus. It was recently launched at the Geneva Motor Show this year, and it is hard for us to pass it up on our list. First of all, I mean just look at it. The car looks like something from the future. The entire body is made from carbon fiber and it packs a V12 engine. Prices start around $2.6 million and I would imagine that only a very few will be produced.

4. The Ferrari 488 GTB

Ferrari 488 GTB

Ferraris tend to be some of the most popular supercars that you can get, and their newest model is just around the corner. The 488 GTB is meant to replace the 458, and it is pretty much an improvement over the 458 in nearly all ways. The supercar will offer a naturally aspirated, 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 661 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. It also features a new design that has increased the downforce by 50% compared to the 458. But most importantly, it’s a Ferrari. You can’t go wrong here.

3. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse “La Finale”

bugatti-veyron-la-finale

The end of an era. The Bugatti Veyron has held the title for the “fastest street-legal production car” for many years now, however the company is phasing them out. This “La Finale” version will be the last Veyrons that Bugatti will make. The car offers a ridiculous quad-turbo, W16 engine that delivers 1,200 hp so it is still absurdly fast and will hit top speeds over 250 mph. All of these models have sold out unfortunately, but we have to include the last Veyron model ever on our list.

2. The McLaren P1 GTR

McLaren P1 GTR

The original McLaren P1 was probably my favorite supercar of recent years, and now it has just gotten better. The P1 GTR is a supped up, $2.8 million dollar P1 that is better in almost every way. It’s so fast, that this is actually a track-only car and is illegal to take out on the streets. It’s powered by modified twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric motor that provides the vehicle with 986 bhp in total. The normal P1 hits 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, and this thing is even faster. It’s kind of difficult to get your hands on one however. McLaren is only making 35 of them, and they are only available to people who already own the regular P1. Still, this is one of the most impressive vehicles to have ever been created.

1. The Koenigsegg Regera

Koengisegg_Regera

Koenigsegg is a Swedish automobile company that produces just a few vehicles each year, and the Regera is their newest car. This automobile isn’t a supercar, it’s a hypercar. So what exactly does that mean? Well it’s plug-in hybrid that has a large 5.0-liter V8 and there electric motors. It’s total output is 1,489 hp which is hysterically absurd. The company claims that this is “the fastest accelerating car in the world”. It has a variety of luxury features like a premium dashboard and even Apple CarPlay, but the most impressive feature of the Regera is its gearbox. It only has a single-speed gearbox and a hydraulic coupling that links them together. I’m not ever really sure I understand how that works, but this is probably the highest-performing, most advanced car you can currently buy.
