Take a Look at the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo Concept

Alpine Vision Gran Turismo

The popular video game racing series, Gran Turismo, has had a very interesting relationship with designers and car manufacturers. Over the various years, we see many design firms develop cars for the video-game, many of which look very impressive. The video game series created the “Vision Gran Turismo” program where we see real car companies and designers work with the video game developers to make cars for the game. Well the newest concept has come out, and they’ve already made a real one.

Alpine is a small subsidiary of Renault, whose brand focuses on sport cars. The company has not produced any vehicles in years, however Renault is bring them back next year. They are the most recent company to work with the guys over at Gran Turismo to develop a concept car and it’s called the Vision GT. The concept boast aggressive styling and a unique cockpit that would suit clockwise tracks like Le Mans. The Vision GT was one of 15 entries into the competition to be featured in the video game, and the real one is very interesting.

The real Vision GT has a 4.5 liter V8 engine that delivers 450 bhp and 428lb-ft of torque. While that is arguably underpowered, it is a concept car that puts the most amount of its emphasis on design. Still since the Vision GT is made almost entirely from carbon fiber, it’s extremely lightweight. It actually weighs less than a Renault Twingo, which is essentially a super small, 2-door urban car similar to a Mini. Alpine claims the vehicle can go 199mph, and it will be interesting to see this car raced on a track. They probably wont ever put this car into production, but you have to admit its very futuristic. The real car is currently on display in Paris where it will remain until February 1st. The company then plans on showing it in action in the near future, hopefully at one of the upcoming automobile shows.
