Rolls Royce is Planning a High-End SUV

Rolls Royce SUV

The automotive industry is going through a weird “trend” right now as we are seeing the majority of higher end and luxury car manufacturers producing two very different types of vehicles. We are seeing many car companies releasing hybrids, fully-electric cars, and environmental conscious automobiles. Then we are also seeing a large increase in luxury SUV’s and crossovers. Brands like Mercedes and BMW are ramping up production of SUV’s in addition to adding new models, and other companies like Maserati and Bentley are planning on releasing their first luxury SUV. Well it looks like Rolls-Royce is getting into the mix as they have just revealed that they are in-fact going to be making a luxury Rolls-Royce SUV.

Recently SUV’s, particular luxury SUV’s like the Porsche Cayenne or the Mercedes GL-Class, have been dominating automotive markets around the world. Seeing this many brands are also releasing an SUV, now including Rolls-Royce. For the well-known luxury brand, this is a drastic change from the large saloon cars that they are known for. While they haven’t released many details on what the car will look like or when it will come out, it will be a high-bodied vehicle with an aluminum frame that can “cross any terrain”.

Rolls-Royce is doing this to not only produce a larger range of vehicles, but to compete with Mercedes. Over the years Mercedes has released a variety of high-end S-Class sedans and Maybachs that are meant to directly compete with Rolls-Royce’s. It’s important to note that Rolls-Royce is actually owned by BMW AG, and Mercedes is easily their largest competitor. We don’t know what this SUV will exactly feature, but if it’s meant to compete with other high-end SUV’s and since its being made by Rolls-Royce, I’m sure it will be very luxurious.
