10 Police Forces Who’ve Added Super and Luxury Cars to Their Fleets

E7 Auto Show

While police cruisers are known for their speed and reliability, sometimes they just aren’t enough. Whether cruising down the autobahn, driving off-road, or facing some tough weather while chasing bad guys, some police forces have found it in their best interests to add supercars and luxury vehicles to their fleets.  Frankly these are cars that many of us would only hope to dream of driving.

There’s something intimidating about a Lamborghini coming up behind you to stop you for speeding as opposed to a Ford Taurus don’t you think?  Don’t get me wrong.  Both cars are revved up to the gills and will catch you in seconds, but one just looks a little scarier than the other.

Below are arguably the ten best, most luxury police cars used in modern-day police forces.

1. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia – Italian Police Force

Gallardo

By far the coolest police car on this list (and of all time, for that matter) is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia used in the Italian police force. As the name would suggest, this is a Lamborghini, one of the most prized cars around. It was added to the force due to its proven reliability, much more so than your standard Ford police cruiser. Its yellow color (a color which makes every car look like it costed 10% more than it actually did) definitely adds to the fun-factor here. It almost makes you want to become a cop.

2. Porsche 911 – New South Wales Police Force

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Used by several police forces around the globe, the Porsche 911 is more than capable of taking advantage of everything the long Wales highways have to offer and then some. While perhaps not as bright in color or as head-turning as the last car we saw, Porsches are already known for their amazing performance, imagine a revved up version made specifically with high-speed chases in mind. The Porsche 911 model can be had by anyone with the right amount of money, not just by the police.

3. Mitsubishi Evolution – UK Police Force

Lancer

While it may not carry the same name as the Porsche or the Lamborghini, the Mitsubishi Evolution is still an amazing, high-end car nonetheless. From a performance standpoint, it’s quite arguably the best car in the world. Really, it’s that good. While the entire UK fleet is far from completely outfitted with these cars, they’ve added several to their list of police cruisers. The speed, acceleration and handling with these are out of this world and anyone should make it their goal to drive in one at some point throughout their life. I can’t imagine how much the lucky cops who were chosen to drive these suddenly no longer mind their lack of vacation time.

4. Mazda RX-8 – Japanese Police Force

Mazda_RX-8_police_car_in_Tokyo

This certainly won’t blend in with traffic when trying to remain undercover. Japan recently added the Mazda RX-8 to their fleet of police cruisers. Not that anyone’s overly surprised, though. Every cool, Japan-made car has been used by their police force at one time or another. the Mazda RX-8 is fast, durable, sleek and free of roadside troubles. What more can you ask for in a police cruiser? I for one certainly won’t be robbing banks in Japan any time soon.

5. The E7 – American Police Force

E7

This one is a little closer to home. The E7, released by Carbon Motors, a relatively new contender in the motor vehicles market, has been the luxury car of choice by police fleets everywhere across the U.S.A. But you haven’t seen one, you point out? I’d consider myself lucky if I were you. Looking through footage of high-speed chases, you’re bound to see one of these bad boys flying down the highway at some point or another. This model of car is best known for its steering and breaking, making it handle twice as good as it looks. Unfortunately, Carbon Motors’ rise to fame was short lived as American police forces began to favor other cars in its place. Still, next to your average civilian vehicle, this thing is a behemoth capable of great feats. It doesn’t look half bad either!

6. Volkswagen GTI – Zimbabwe Police Force

vw

While perhaps not number one in the looks department, the Volkswagen GTI is one of the most durable, least problematic cars on the market. If you were to drive across country with no access to roadside assistance, this would most definitely be your best bet. While Volkswagen is already known for its reliability, they’ve really taken the cake with this one.

7. The Holden VE Commodore – Australian Police Force

Holden

One of the most exotic and fast cars in the world, the Holden VE Commodore was recently taken up by many police cruiser fleets throughout Australia. These cars are known for their rugged looks and low, growling motor sounds. You’ll spot these guys a mile away and hear them coming the entire time, but they’ll be on you in seconds.

8. Porsche Cayenne – Chinese Police Force

After looking at the invoice, the car will sting and burn just as much as the pepper. Well-known for its symbol of wealth and riches, the Porsche Cayenne has been taken up by Chinese police forces across the nation as the preferred high-end fleet cruiser. It’s fast, it’s got some of the best handling in the world, it’s surprisingly inconspicuous and it can hold twice as many bad guys as your traditional police cruiser. It’s easy to see why China favors the Cayenne.

9. Ford Mustangs – American Police Force

Ford_Mustang_IRL

I could give a spot to each model of Ford Mustang the American police use in their line of duty, but then all of the other wonderful cars on this list wouldn’t get spots. To be fair, we’re lumping every Mustang into one category. The Ford Mustang has an image of being rough, rugged and edgy. Cowboys stopped riding horses, but they never stopped riding Mustangs. You’ll find different models in each division’s fleet no matter where you go. Mustangs are the choice sports car among police forces in the U.S.A.

10. The Dodge Charger Pursuit – American Police Force

Charger

Remember that awesome Canadian car your rich friend got last year? Me neither. Oddly enough, the Dodge Charge Pursuit is the fastest commonly used police car on the American police force and is made in Canada, a country known for many different products used in the U.S.A., cars not being one of them. It’s not pretty to look at nor does it give off the same growl as some of the cars on this list, but it can pick up some of the fastest speeds you’ve ever seen. While not as much of a sports car, it’s amazingly practical and quite common in the American police force (you must have seen one at some point or another), so it deserve a spot on this list, even if it only gets last place.
