Lamborghini Reveals It’s First Plug-in Hybrid

Lamborghini's first plug-in car

Lamborghini is known for their sleek, fast, luxury cars and they have once again created a masterpiece. The company that revealed classic models such as the Aventador and Huracan is continuing to produce some of the nicest vehicles in the world. Although these cars are known for their speed, they usually lack in gas mileage getting very small amounts to the gallon, yet all is about to change with the latest Lamborghini car, the Asterion.

The Lamborghini Asterion is the company’s first plug-in hybrid car, adapting to the eco-friendly and money saving model that other companies have already started to adapt. The Asterion has 910 horsepower and should be hitting the general market sooner rather than later like a lot of concept cars. A large reasoning for this turn towards green comes from Audi, Lamborghini’s parent company, which has really focused on making their cars environmentally friendly.

The Lamborghini Asterion features the traditoinal 52 liter mid-mounted V-10 engine which can be found in the beautiful Audi R8 model. This pumps out 610 horsepower normally but is packaged with three electric motors which add on an additional 300 horsepower, making the Asterion a beast. The Asterion can apparently go from 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds flat while reaching a top speed of 199 miles per hour, with a top speed of 78 miles per hour running purely on electric power. The car can travel for around 31 miles on just the electric power source, which allows drivers to travel a nice distance before having to recharge or refuel depending on how they use both power sources.

The Lamborghini Asterion will hopefully find its way to the market with mass production in the near future. It’s great to see major sports car companies developing and offering cars that are environmentally friendly while still retaining their shape and power. While the design of this Lamborghini is relatively generic and boring compared to their others, it is still a sleek and sexy looking car that is very fast, as well as green, helping to please everyone.
