Jeep Gladiator Concept Jeep Will Move Forward To Produce a Pickup Truck in 2017

Jeep has long produced some of the most iconic American SUVs and off-road vehicles ever since the days of the Second World War. For a long time the company produced small pickup trucks, but then phased them out during the 1980’s. Then, over ten years ago, Jeep brought the Jeep Gladiator (pictured above) with them at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. It was unlike any other Jeep we’d seen, however it only ever stayed as a concept. Apparently now Jeep is revitalizing the idea of the Gladiator as they are going forward with producing a pickup truck.

Jeep CEO, Mike Manley, told The Detroit News recently that they are officially going forward with a Jeep pickup truck of some kind. It is expected that the pickup truck will be based on the currently Wrangler, and it would make sense for it to be released sometime in or around the release of the updated Wrangler, which puts us in 2017.

Details about this new Jeep pickup truck are still pretty scarce, however we imagine that it would be somewhat similar to the Gladiator but look like whatever the new Wrangler will look like. We will have to keep on waiting for this vehicle, but truck and Jeep enthusiasts have another car to get excited about.
